11 Feb VTG experience the Mobile Wheel Reprofiling Service

Taking the measurements
Yellow Rail were delighted to showcase the RailatheTM Mobile Wheel Reprofiling Service (MWRS) to the Service and Engineering Teams of VTG Rail UK Ltd, last month in Long Marston, Warwickshire.
VTG Rail were able to see the full range of activities of the MWRS service, with the fully branded and equipped special purpose vehicle and trained deployment team. A great opportunity for VTG staff to see the system in operation and to ask lots of important questions.

The MWRS team in action
Prior to launching the RailatheTM to the UK and Europe last year, Yellow Rail has worked in close partnership with VTG (the largest wagon owner in Europe) in order to ensure the service meets the needs of VTG and their clients. The two companies have since signed a 5-year contract for the provision of the services nationwide.
Deployment follows considerable investment and development including a patented special purpose vehicle which supports all the requirements for effective deployment in the field. A first of its kind in the UK, this service will revolutionise the impact of wheel damage to rail operations.

The end result
Nigel Day, VTG UK’s Engineering Director stated “This innovative response to a significant business issue will revolutionise how we operate and will extend these benefits to our customers. We fully anticipate increased utilisation of fleet and minimised interruptions as a result of wheel damage.”
Andy Kevins MD said, “Our intention has always been to transform the approach to wheel turning. The service, as well as the RailatheTM static options create a new range of responses to wheel defects, which can occur at any location and any time on the network.”
